Croatia.

So, from Prague it was a loooooooong overnight train to Vienna and then to Zagreb. I've never been as claustraphobic in my life as I was in that train cab, surrounded by 4 loud, rowdy, young Czech males. I was tempted to drop kick them all....but I restrained myself.

Getting to Zagreb was worthwhile the trip. The weather was amazing, and the city centre is small but welcoming. Split via plane was the next destination. Of course my bags were thoroughly searched...I need a new passport photo.

We spent less than a day in Split before getting a ferry to Hvar. Oh, I forgot to mention that I travelled to Croatia with a young man from Drumheller, Brandon. Jen and I met him in Prague. He's been living in Newcastle for the last two years. In Hvar, we stayed in this awesome villa, which was cheaper than the hostels I've stayed in. The lady who owned the villa was tres pretty.....her husband, not so much. I assume he's very wealthy (yup, I'm a beotch). The couple were tres kind and kept offering us homemade drinks that I reluctantly accepted. The homemade sherry wasn't too bad, but the grappa was vomit inducing. You apparently drink it before or after meals to help you "digest". If by digest they mean lose your meal, then yes. I was still in pain 10mins after having the drink.
Croatia ended with a beautiful coastal road trip down to Dubrovnik. We rented a Fiat and hit the open highway....well, it really wasn't that open, with villages every few km. Sorry, this was a boring entry, but to sum up Croatia: pizza, ice cream, walking up hills, lounging on the rocky beaches, and Brandon constantly talking about Julia, the villa owner....he was mesmorized and in love with her.

Hanging out on the deck in the villa.

  2. I am vain and only post pictures of myself....Brandon refused to allow himself to be photographed, and there was never an opportunity without being creep to take one of Julia....or I just made these people up.
